THE SMOOTH SOOTHING SOUNDS OF GALAXY - GLASGOW'S FABULOUS MUSICAL DUO!
Irene Bailey and Ossie Montgomery are Galaxy - a fabulous singing duo who have been musical partners for 15 years. Irene has been singing since she was 11 years old but four years ago suffered throat cancer and was told to hang up her microphone. However, she beat all the medical odds and now has a clean bill of health with her voice back better than ever!
In fact she recently auditioned before Simon Cowell who was very complimentary about her about her performance and voice, although he believed that the world did not need another Shirley Bassey! But we are delighted to present Glasgow's version of that famous Welsh singstar to sing some of the greatest hits, including Big Spender, Kiss Me Honey Honey and more. Irene also sings a medley of Scotland's own Lena Martell and more songs from the sixties. Ossie's musical influences are Sinatra and Bobby Darin.
So make sure you are at the dancefloor, from 15.45
on both days and either listen, or take to the
floor and dance in your own special style.

Try some Tai chi
Legend has it that Tai Chi Chuan was created sometime around the 12th or 13th century. As a martial art it uses softness to over come hardness and hardness to overcome softness. It is the softness training that gives it its great beneficial qualities.
The soft training includes form, partner and solo exercises. Fundamentally Tai Chi Chuan exercises work on posture, balance, co-ordination and the breath. The result of the work is improvements in all the above mentioned areas and dynamic relaxation. The result of these exercises is that people seem fitter, lighter and less stressed.
Many of the body's aches and pains disappear as soon as the posture is aligned. Deep abdominal breath training further relaxes the upper body. Learning to use the hips and body center for balance creates great stability. It may seem a simple thing, but tai chi does this by showing people how to learn to walk without falling from foot to foot.
Osteoporosis, joint problems, M.E., M.S. and cardiac recovery are but a few of the conditions that Tai Chi is recommended as being beneficial for.
Learning Tai chi form and applying the principles to sports such as Golf can greatly improve ones ability to play. The balancing aspect of the form will also help with injury recovery. The relaxed power can greatly increase distance and accuracy.
The nature of the training is that it not only has the potential to add life to the years but can also add years to the life.
Join in the taster session at The Retirement Show and see how it can help you.

16/7/07 The Retirement Show in 2008
Following the success of the UK’s first-ever Retirement Show, in July 2007 at London Olympia, the organisers have announced that the show will be repeated in London in 2008, but will also take place in Manchester and Glasgow as well. "Our research shows that visitors generally travelled for up to two hours to get to the show (although some did come from as far as Truro, Harrogate and North Wales). The audience for the show is therefore regionally-based, and we are very confident indeed that the show can be repeated in Manchester, London and Glasgow in 2008, with each show attracting a different cohort of visitors," commented show director Dr Robert McCaffrey. "We have received a lot of interest in all three shows, and we expect to take our first bookings for the shows in the near future."
